From Sustainable Farming to the Future of Food & Agri-Innovation: Newform Foods Launches the Newform Applied Biotech Centre at South Ormsby Estate, Lincolnshire
Newform Foods, the South African food technology company specialising in food and biotech research, has announced the launch of its new UK research and development centre at South Ormsby Estate in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Operating through a business-to-business model, Newform Foods partners with manufacturers, ingredient companies and consumer health brands to develop scalable biological production platforms for high-value ingredients.
Engagements begin with collaborative R&D and process optimisation, progressing toward product development and technology licensing as projects mature. Applications span sustainable food ingredients, functional compounds and natural extracts for use in food, nutraceutical and cosmetic products.
The establishment of the UK centre marks a significant step in Newform Foods’ international growth strategy and represents a long-term investment in innovation and scientific excellence.
South Ormsby Estate, an organic estate with a strong focus on sustainability, soil health and biodiversity, provides a distinctive setting that connects regenerative agriculture with advanced bioscience. The partnership reflects a shared belief that responsible land management and scientific innovation both have a role to play in building more resilient food systems.
The company’s work in Lincolnshire is designed to complement and strengthen domestic agriculture by creating new value from crops, enhancing processing efficiency and contributing to greater food system resilience. Phased recruitment will begin ahead of operations commencing in April 2026.

“Our partnership with South Ormsby Estate provides a powerful platform to advance the future of food and agriculture,” said Brett Thompson, Founder and CEO of Newform Foods.
“Through research and the development of functional, cultivated ingredients, our mission is to build a more resilient and sustainable food system. Lincolnshire offers an exceptional blend of agricultural heritage and forward-thinking ambition, and we are excited to establish a long-term presence here.”
Justin Chandler, Managing Director of South Ormsby Estate, added:
“We are delighted to welcome Newform Foods to South Ormsby. As an organic estate committed to sustainability, soil health and biodiversity, this partnership brings together responsible land management and world-class scientific research. We believe it represents an exciting long-term collaboration that will benefit our rural community while contributing to the resilience of future food systems.
In time, we hope to explore opportunities for organic materials grown here on the estate to support the cultivation process, creating a more circular and locally rooted sustainable model.”
